It was raining when we were finally will go to Jogja, and Febby almost didn’t make it on time into the train to Tanah Abang Station. so we all set, without Roya since she would have a presentation the following day (she’d join us later).
The journey began. while we waited for the economy-class train, we sat on the floor and ate our dinner, so economy-class. i took some pics around the station since i felt the view so beautiful.
train came, we in. it took about 10 hours until we arrived at Lempuyangan station, Yogyakarta. During in the train, we played a game which being quite often played later during our times in Yogyakarta. Let’s called it a “Guess the Title” Game. First we guessed movies title, then changed to musics title. We guessed it by the gesture that represent the words. When Dede being the one to made gestures, it’s really hard to guess the title. She’s quite good to made confusing gestures. we got tired in the end and one by one went to sleep (you see the pictures of them sleeping above, i took them all *grin*). oh, I got Dede writing something, she said it was a travel journal. I borrow it from her, read it, and made fun of it by writing a travel diary as if it was Dede who wrote it.
Yogyakarta! Finally. it was the first time for me at that station and it was beautiful, so i took some pics there. A man came to us offering cars, we agreed with the cost so they take us to our inn, Wisma Martha.
Ate breakfast, took bath, Wendy took a quick nap, we ready for our first day! Plan: Keraton, Taman Sari, Beringin Kembar, Malioboro. We missed Beringin Kembar, but we managed to visit there next day.
We used public transportation for the first day. I guess we’re lucky since in Jogja public transport is hard to find, limited, and not always available around the city (or so i know). we used it to take us to Keraton.
Out from Keraton. we headed to Taman Sari. Suddenly, a man offer Becak to take us there, but I refused. but weirdly he kept on following us and told us stories about Taman Sari. He still with us even after we arrived there. Well let’s call him a Sudden Tourguide. at first I was annoyed with him, but then I think he’s just being nice. he even willing to be not paid at all!
It was Friday, so the boys had to take a Friday pray. we stop at a nearby mosque so Me, Wendy Imam, and the Tourguide can pray there. the sign in the entrance of the mosque: Masjid Kraton Sokotunggal Yogyakarta. Nothing really special about this mosque but it saved us from the hot shiny sun outside. I was slept, well can’t help it since i’m tired and exhausted (excuse).
Taman Sari have beautiful structure, i was amazed to see such place since it was surrounded by the poor-looking yet densely arranged houses around it. i can’t really describe it, so i pictured it.
We were tired from walking and looking around under direct sun, so we decided to eat at nearby food stall. well, judging from the look, it was not a good place to eat. it wasn’t a clean place, and the next shop beside it was a pet shop. you can imagine how eating food while smelling the scent of animal like birds and rabbits would be, won’t be a good experience. but it appeared the food was quite well, not bad I must say, and I didn’t smell anything from the next shop. Maybe because we all so tired and starving so we didn’t care and just eat.
Finished eating, we went to our last place, Malioboro, spesifically Bringharjo Market. You know what we did here (or they, since i didn’t bring any money
). I went inside and it was full with Batik everywhere. Batik Dress, Batik T-Shirt, Batik Formal Shirt, but no Batik Underwear though lol. I felt so much pain on my legs so i decided to sit and just wait for them finished shopping. Too bad i didn’t took any pics here, i was so tired i just wanted to rest. Febby met her friends here and Dian got stomachache so what I did while waiting for the others shopping was accompanying Febby meeting her friends at Mirota Batik and went to Malioboro Mall to bought bread for Dian.
The day ended so we went back to our inn. we used TransJogja now. Done putting our luggage to our room, we went out again for dinner. We couldn’t walk so far since we already walked for hours, so we had dinner at a nearby place. nothing special with the food, we just ate it and went back to our inn.
Back at Wisma Martha. Me and Rika decided to use the facility provided, swimming pool. Yeah we did swim that night, and yeah it was cold. But it was fun, i felt my tiredness lifted up when i threw myself into the water. We even played the table tennis after that with Imam and Dian. Quite an unusual way to end our first day in Jogja, Sport. ![]()
