Oh my March is almost finished and I haven’t post anything yet…. sad.
For anyone that don’t know.. I’m working as HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) Officer in a floating crane company.
My company’s business is transhipment of coal from coal barge to mother vessel. We use the floating crane to move the coal.
My responsibility……. I don’t really know my responsibility. Based on my job title, I have to ensure employees working in the floating crane are safe, healthy, and of course the environment is protected.
It is an abstract responsibility. I often find myself wondering what to do. Well if I think about it I actually have a lot of things that I have to do. But most of the time I feel like I don’t know how to do it. I try to do what I know but then I found a dead-end, huft. After that I will leave that and try to do other things.
I don’t think I’m lazy. If I know how to do things, I can be very focus. So I think my problem is I don’t know a lot of things, and I can’t find anyone that can help me to understand things. I am the only HSE in the whole company. So I have to think and do things on my own. Well I did ask help from other department but they are as clueless as me so…. *cry* I can ask general HSE things to my friend but when it comes to operation related then I will feel like “OMG what should I do”
I talked to my friend and he said to me that this is actually a good things for me. Since I am the only one the decision is on me (well this is not quite right since CEO is the one who take decision), and if I succeed to improve the HSE then it will be good for my career. Well…. hopefully I will succeed to do that. I was excited when joining the company but after 5 months…. I feel stuck :(
Sorry if this post sound like I’m not grateful for my job. I am grateful that I have a job… I should find more things to be grateful for other than that. Maybe that will motivate me to keep trying even when I have no clue.
